Robin Hok,
a native of Kalispell, Montana, is in her final semester at
Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music, where she is pursuing
degrees in Voice Performance and Environmental Studies. During
her time at Oberlin she has been fortunate to be a part of many
fine productions and performance ensembles: these include
Handel’s Dixit Dominus with the Black River Singers,
productions of Albert Herring and Orpheus in the
Underworld with the Oberlin Opera Theater, Mozart’s
Requiem with the Oberlin Orchestra and Musical Union, and
Oberlin’s renaissance a cappella choir, Collegium
Musicum Oberliniense. She also had the pleasure of
performing one of the (very) small solo roles in Stravinsky’s
Le Rossignol with the Cleveland Orchestra last May. She has
a great weakness for chocolate, good cheese, and Gilbert and
Sullivan. In the future Robin hopes to continue her musical
studies with a greater emphasis on Baroque and early music and
ensemble singing. Robin is getting married this summer to
Graham Bier, a fellow musician, environmental studies major and
Oberlin student, whom she would like to thank for his support of
her performance in this concert. Robin and Graham will be
launching their efforts to set an example as environmentally
conscious graduates this summer with their climate neutral
wedding and the purchase of a car converted to run on straight
vegetable oil.
